They are doing a lot better than my sunflowers. I knew that not watering them was an unwise strategy

Nice! This actually makes me a little nostalgic. My son loved growing sunflowers when we lived down in Boise. He planted seeds every year from his first birthday to his fifth. We moved after that and lived in a rental house for two years... no sunflowers... then bought our own home and didn't get around to planting sunflowers this summer. Next summer for sure!!
